Selection principle of welding equipment


The selection of welding equipment is an important part of the development of welding process, involving many factors, but should pay attention to the following factors.

1. Technical requirements for welded structures

The technical requirements of the welded structure include the material characteristics, structural characteristics, dimensions, accuracy requirements and the conditions of use of the structure.

If the welding structure material is ordinary low carbon steel, arc welding transformer can be selected; if the welding structure requirements are high, and low hydrogen type electrode welding is required, DC arc welding machine should be selected.

If it is thick and large welding, you can use electroslag welding machine; if it is a bar butt, you can choose cold welding machine and resistance butt welding machine. For active metals or alloys, heat-resistant alloys and corrosion-resistant alloys, inert gas shielded welding machines, plasma arc welding machines, electron beam welding machines, etc. can be selected according to specific conditions.

For large quantities of structure and size fixed welding structure, you can choose a special welding machine.

2. Actual usage

Different welding equipment can weld the same weldment, which is based on the actual use of the selection of more appropriate welding equipment.

If there is a lack of universal power and gas sources during field welding, only arc welding generators such as diesel (steam) oil DC arc welding generators can be selected as welding equipment.

For precision weldments that are not allowed to be reprocessed or heat treated after butt welding, the electron beam welding machine with energy concentration, no need to add filler metal materials, less heat affected zone and high precision should be selected.

3. Economic benefits

When welding, the energy consumption of welding equipment is considerable. When selecting welding equipment, it should be considered that under the premise of meeting the process requirements, welding equipment with low power consumption and high power factor should be selected as much as possible.
